Nice elbow by Zetterberg too.

I don't know about elbow, but it did look like Zetterberg tried to hit him up high before the head-slam happened.
Weber should get a game or two for that, for sure. In NHL 2012, that is.
I love the way the RW made it clear that they might have been a little annoyed with that.

LMAO! I thought it was funny. If Simon did that, he would've gotten a 30 game suspension by Colon Campbell (maybe even Shannahan as well) because of how something he did a few years ago was so "disturbing."
But because it's Weber, a great player on a developing team on the rise, he gets a fine.
I'm certain I see this same move in many Schwartznegger movies from the 80s.

Definite star treatment here. That said, I don't really care because it was Detroit. Who knows, maybe this will give them the message that the league won't always come to their rescue.

After watching Maltby, Draper, Chelios, and many other Wings do that shit for years and get the 'hockeytown' pass.....fuck 'em.
The few older Wings left, like Zetterberg Franzen & Holmstrom, still do that BS behind most plays....so tough shit, karma.

Holmstrom I could see, I don't believe Zetterberg and Franzen smash peoples heads into the glass behind the play... Maybe you know more than I do, how many Red Wings games have you watched the past couple years??

Hell, Franzen has a few fights under his belt at least. He plays tough for a Swede. Zetterberg I wouldn't believe.

Nobody did noting. They shouldn't have even let them celebrate the win after that. Get in there and scrum up the group victory celebration at least. Lame.

Love it! The inconsitancy of it all only further's the joke the league has made of itself with these retarded fucking suspensions. That was a dirty hit sure, but in my opinion not suspension worthy ever. Punch in the mouth worthy, absolutely but a suspension it was not so I'm thrilled there was no suspension. However by today's standards with the shit they're suspending guys for, clearly this was a case of the star treatment pass which only furthers the point that suspensions are too inconsistant to ever serve as a fair or effective deterrant against cheap shots. Great non suspension call here that highlights how fucking stupid and over the top many of the ones handed out this season were.
It was also funny to see the Wings crying about it today in the interviews...."I think he tried to hurt me and it was a dirty play that has no business in the game" or something Zetterberg said. hahahahaha. Buckle up pussy, it's the playoffs, what should be an absolute war zone with a whatever it takes to win, kill or be killed approach. Hopefully Datsuk is next on Weber's hit list. What's the worst he'll have to endure? Answering to fucking Ablekader? The Wings count on the league to be their enforcer far too often so it's a thing of beauty to see it bite them in the ass. Hopefully Weber scores the game winner in game 2

Oh, I agree, they aren't man enough to do what Weber did, lol.
But they all have an ingrained culture of cute little stickwork and other pussy little attacks as guys turn their back and follow the play. Starting with Draper, Maltby, Chelios, etc., and continuing with whoever's left from that era.
These guys are dwindling, but they still are cheap little fucks as a rule. I do have some respect for Abdelkader, he'll fight now and then.
