Look, I get it. I'd have been PISSED and would have let everyone know it...but acting like a spoiled child and refusing to exit their private property? Grow the fuck up and walk off the plane like a man, dude.

Yeah, I don't have the balls to open that can of worms on Facebook...

I think this is a case where I can agree with you, but at the same time, that isn't exactly how you remove a paying customer from his flight. It looks like he was beaten near unconscious and dragged out of the plane like a card cheat in the movie Casino. Seemed excessive.

Albeit, I have to say, it produced probably the best .GIF on the Internet that I've seen in some time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it was handled poorly by United.

Now I normally agree with you, but not on this one. Offer up some incentive for the guy to get off the plane or maybe ask someone else if they'd be willing to give up their seat. They offered up like $800 for anyone willing to give up their seat. Hell, offer up a few thousand and someone would be more than willing. Going to end up costing United a hell of a lot more than that.

Plus, they wanted these seats for 4 of their employees. From what I understand, the destination for their 4 employees was a 4 hour drive away. Rent them a fucking car and have them drive. This guy was a paying customer who did absolutely nothing wrong but board a plane. I'm definitely in the fuck United group on this one and I expect this will cost them a whole lot of money, including watching their stock price take a hit.

Incident aside, my observation is that now that all of the airlines use (practically unusable) travel vouchers as the "give up your seat" incentive, this problem has become chronic.

In the old days, when the airlines offered cash incentives, there were always a couple of college kids or stoners (or, both!) more than willing to give up their seats for a couple hundred clams and a hotel room.

I've tried to use "travel vouchers" in the past, and they (1) were only redeemable at an airport ticket counter, and (2) could only be used on flights with an "available, voucher redeemable seat". Not interested.......

I agree that the guy was wronged. I agree that he should have been LIVID.

I don't agree with acting like a spoiled, entitled child and not just walking off of the plane.

I'd never fly United, so I can't relate here.

Some of the best twitter has to offer:

"We put the hospital in hospitality"

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have now reached bruising altitude"

The "doctor" is a felon who traded prescriptions for sex"

Still not a good look for the "Friendly Skies."

If the destination was 4 hours away, how did no one volunteer? We've all been through this before (I assume) and the money easily gets worth it to someone (they legally have to offer compensation of alternate flights arriving at roughly the same time).

Also, if no one volunteered, they must have used some algorithm to select the person getting turfed. Which I assume would mean a 3rd-party sold ticket, to someone with no status who arrived at the airport 2 minutes before the flight. And dude was in sweat pants..... doctor who has patients at a hospital the he is traveling to see? hmmmmmmm that rings all kinds of bullshit.

And to top it off, United once again demonstrates how to completely f up the PR. Read the terms on your tickets folks!

Is the man's background really relevant in this situation? Of course in many criminal cases it would be; not so sure with this chain of events.

Everyone thinks is an outrage, yet no one does anything more than (whip out their phone (No Worldstar shout out?) and whine. Bunch of pussies

They aren't cops dragging him off the plane. NPR and the rest of the shitlib media need to understand the difference between cops and security guards and adding fuel to their anticop work product.

Air travel has completely gone down the shitter in 20 years. Between the stupidity of the typical passenger and the assitude of the flight crews, you'd see people better behaved at a redneck Chuck E Cheese

Best idea I heard was put the flight crew on a private plane and fly them down to L'ville.
Dis somanumbatching country was founded so that the liberties of common patriotic citizens like me could not be taken away by a bunch of fargin iceholes... like yourselves.

We've all done that at some time with the 'it couldn't happen to a nicer guy' type thing and often it could be relevant. At times though, whether it be the media, perpetrator, or corporation it could become a deflect and smear tactic to try to muddy the waters.
