It's been a while since Fried Chickens had a tournament. So we came up with one that is fairly unique and should generate some good debate.
"Fried Chicken's Battle of the Playoff Pugilists" contains 64 fighters that have all excelled in the playoffs... at least as far as PIMs are concerned!
Using the top 100 all-time leaders list for playoff PIMs, the field was narrowed to 64 by cutting out scorers, non-fighters, and scrubs. Don't get me wrong, there's still a few scrubs in the field. But such is life. Also, match ups were randomized. So we apologize if you see a tough match up (or a weak one) early on. But that keeps things interesting too!
What we're asking you to do is:
1)
Between now and the end of the regular season, go into the following link (
http://challonge.com/fcsplayoffpugilists) and fill in your bracket.
Please leave your FC username. I don't think you have to sign up to do this. But if you do, it only takes a minute. Also, when choosing winners, you can drag/drop or simply double-click on their name to move them to the next round. You leave your final pick and username at the bottom before saving.
2) Once the playoffs start, we'll try to have one fight per day. Leaving a description of the fight, some history (if there is any), etc. is encouraged but not required. If you simply want to write the winner, that is fine too. The fighter with the most "wins" at the end of the day advances.
A match up will not end unless there are at least 10 "votes" in the thread. All told, we're looking at:
Round 1 32 fights
Round 2 16 fights
Round 3 8 fights
Round 4 4 fights
Round 5 2 fights
Round 6 1 fight
63 fights total --- 63 days
Once the tournament wraps up, I think the site will allow me to go back in and see who had the closest predictions via points (much like the NCAA tournament).
We'll come up with a prize for the poster that is closest. So feel free to pick your favorites. But just know that the poster(s) that are closest to the FC mass vote WINS.
That is why you are encouraged to leave your FC name when you vote.
Please, only one submission per poster. There are some interesting names in the tournament. And we think this should be a lot of fun during this year's playoffs.
