That sounds great, Irons. Cool story.

I've got tickets to see the great John McLaughlin in 3 weeks. He is co-headlining a show with guitarist Jimmy Herring. Each will play with their bands and then collaborate on some Mahavishnu Orchestra material to close out the evening. Reportedly John's last tour. I'm looking forward to seeing him light it up one more time.

Awesome, Pete. Enjoy. You ever stop and think just how lucky we are living where we do and having easy access to so many bands and artists? My Canadian family get so jealous and call me lucky and spoiled. Hell, there are many parts of the US that bands don't go to. When I was a teenager I would go see bands at MSG, then down to follow them at The Spectrum and down to The Capital Centre and so on. Smaller places like L'Amour down to The Trocadero then to Hammerjacks to the 9:30 club. Never really realized how lucky I was until people started pointing it out.

John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring was incredible. Herring's band, featuring the awesome Jeff Sipe (Apt. Q258) on drums opened with a one hour set. Excellent interplay between guitar, Hammond B-3 and clavinet, and Fender Rhodes and violin.

After a short break, McLaughlin's 4th Dimension band came on featuring Gary Husband on keys. They played about 50 minutes.

After a quick break, all 9 musicians came back and played about 75 minutes of Mahavishnu Orchestra music. 2 guitarists, 2 drummers, 2 bass players, 2 keyboardists, and electric violin. Fripp would have referred to it as "double quartet with strings". They played tunes from the entire catalog including The Inner Mounting flame, Birds of Fire, and even Visions of the Emerald Beyond.

Only a few shows left on the tour. Go!

You're right, but have you forgotten the magnetism of Robin Zander and the charisma of Rick Nielson?!?!

I was talking to a guy the other day whose last name was Negron. Naturally I had to ask him if he was related to Taylor. He said he wasn't sure but it was possible. I said I loved him in Last Boyscout and Fast Times and followed with "Who ordered the double cheese and sausage? "
The guy went right into "If I'm here and you're here,
doesn't that make it our time?"
