It's nice to be able to start one of these because I received cool gifts from my wonderful fiancee and am not having a loser Christmas like I did for several years in a row.
A new pair of black Vans
Colbert's America again
new slippers
a Swiss Army Knife
a guitar slide
hiking boots
wicking hiking pants
slippers
a new hiking pack
some Tangueray and Bombay Sapphire
Jim Beam chocolates with 5% Jim Beam

I got to watch my daughter open presents on Christmas morning knowing that this is the first year she somewhat understands the idea of Santa. I heard her leave her bedroom this morning and make a detour to the Christmas tree instead of coming and climbing into bed with us as she does every morning. Then she came running into our bedroom with the empty plate of cookies she left for Santa, saying "Santa ate the cookies!"
That's all I needed for Christmas.

Lots of clothes (jeans and shirts)
Ties
Big crab pot cooker with base (excited about this one)
Some vintage, unopened baseball card packs (fun)
Lounge/Pajama pants
Now off to the in-laws (who go overboard) and parent's house.
Kids were very excited about their gifts... always fun to be excited for what Santa brought.

That's awesome, Jax. Just awesome. This is my Siena's 1st Christmas- not really knowing what it is yet at 10 months, but sooooooo awesome and special for all of us. Merry Christmas everyone.

I was able to go home over the weekend and see family but had to fly back to DC Sunday night because of work. However I did make out like gangbusters with
Batman blu ray trilogy
Michigan apparel
Lounge wear
Cash
Barnes and noble gift cards
Wine
Detroit tigers scrub cap (I work in the OR)
Jeans, shirts, socks, under shirt (stuff I never wanted as a kid but want now)
Doc martens
The best was spending time with my wife on our first Christmas and the time spent with family

I wish my children were young again. This story brings back great memories. My children would write a letter and expect a response along with leaving cookies and milk out.

I got jack shit.
For about 4 years now we only give presents to the kids. It's actually really nice. I couldn't care less that I don't get anything and it's endlessly easier to buy gifts for a bunch of 1-12 year olds than 40 year old cousins that I only see at christmas. I highly recommend that you explore the possibility to trick your family into doing the same thing
