Man, is this he best song ever, or what? I seriously keep going back to this song- it touches me all over.

The only thing I have to add to this thread is that he was my next door neighbor as a kid and he and my dad used to go to the Bel Air Hotel lounge and POUND BOOZE for hours!

Never heard that but to this day outside of The Playboy Mansion he probably had the nicest house I've ever been in. Wasn't super huge but for the late 70's/early 80's it was a pretty modern pad. He and my dad would hang there ALOT and try and out drink each other.

I think this is one of the best songs out there. Don't know much about Harry personally, but he nails this song. One of my favorites.
"Okay, listen up everybody! Turn up your volumes, announcement. I got good news. We're extending arts and crafts time by four hours today!"

Too bad you were not his neighbor during parts of 73 and 74, as Lennon and him were notorious drinkers at the time.

He was also a favorite songwriter of Lennon/McCartney.

Yup, he rode shotgun during Lennon's "lost weekend", was there the night Lennon taped a tampon to his head and threw down with the Smothers Brothers.

Rumor was that Lennon briefly considered a "new Beatles" line-up (after McCartney announced he was leaving) that included George & Ringo plus Nillsson, Klaus Voormann, and Billy Preston.

I lived in a real wild neighborhood as directly below me in the early 70's was Elvis although I was too young to remember seeing him and right down the street from me in the 80's were Stallone,Vidal Sassoon,OJ and Kareem who's house had no corners and was essentially a circle!

Billy Preston? WOW!! Guess he wouldn't have been the first black Beatle? Sorry folks, I just woke up and that's the best I could come up with!

Happy New Years!

Earl, did your Dad have any Keith Moon stories? For some reason I'm thinking he was drinking friends with Nillson. I lent my Moon book to a friend and can't look it up.

bean - I don't know about Nilsson, but Moonie was a close drinking buddy with Oliver Reed. Their antics are documented in Reed's autobiography.

And yes...this is a GREAT tune.

They were some good stories about Reed in Moon's biography too, and in Townshend's book that came out last year.
