Just about a mile from Texarkana,
In them old cotton fields back home.

Most people are going to have their tax bills go up just because of expiration of the 2% FICA tax break. Should have that break been extended? It hurts, but it was never meant to be permanent. Take that out, and most people are going to pay something similar to what they have been paying.

Exactly. It sucks but we knew it was coming back.

This 2% per person loss of revenue to the Social Security system was paid from general revenue instead. Additional spending by the government.

To which I reply "so what?". Those types of comparisons are called rationalizations and just prompts us to throw good money after bad.

We should be taxed at a level whereby our federal government is efficient and effective. And today neither is the case. There is a tremendous amount of pork, unnecessary stimulus, and redundancy in play. Reduce, consolidate, and eliminate discretionary items and then come talk to me about historical rates.

So my social security tax went up by about $70. not a lot but when you consider that multiplied by 26 pay periods, it adds up.

So pointing out that this is a reversal of a recent tax cut to stimulate the economy is a "rationalization." Funny, I thought it was called "context"

We have outspent to the point where no matter how much we increase taxes, we cannot fix the problem. Continuing to jack up rates to try to justify continued wasteful spending puts us n the same future boat as France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece. It's math.

Sure. Educate me on why I'm not getting this tax break any longer. I understand it wasn't meant to be permanent, but why just let it expire at a time where many people in the country are struggling.

Stimulate the economy? That's laughable. Demand better, not more of the same.

I love reading all of the "buyer's remorse" comments from Obama voters in the articles that discuss the payroll tax changes. Lots of fools wondering what just happened to their hard earned dough.

Because the payroll tax cuts were going to be extended by Romney, right?

Maybe not. But that's not the point. There is no denying that Obama campaigned very aggressively and almost exclusively against millionaires and billionaires by requiring them to pay their "fair share", whatever that means. I'm sure millions of American voters had no idea that the payroll tax was even going to be considered and that Daddy Obama was only going to nail the top 2%. It didn't turn out that way, did it?

I think it just shows the overall ignorance of the voting public. People don't know what they are really voting for, and oversimplify a candidate as either good or bad.

It's not really about what Romney would or wouldn't do. It's about the perception of many voters that Obama would be on their corner handing out $100 bills.
I expect to play every day. That's our job. You go out there every day and contribute in some way.

Payday!

My check is down $32 (after tax). This is my base salary check $50k. $32x26= $832 difference.

I see orange people.
