The roster is returning virtually intact, which has it's pluses and minuses, given the way they performed during the regular season last year.
I like that the lockout may have taken some of edge off of the "hangover".
I think the team will come into this year much more confident than they did last year, but can they play the way they did during the playoffs for 50 games? Somehow I doubt it.

Look, I know it is virtually impossible to repeat, and I don't think the Kings will be the ones to do it, but I think they have a better chance to win the Western Conference again than many of the champs of the recent past.
They played quite well in the regular season once Terry Murray got canned, and especially after they traded for Carter.
The long off season will be good for them, as it gave Quick time to heal. Plus, they still are one of the younger teams in the league, which will come in handy with a compressed schedule.
And did anyone in the West really get better? Detroit lost Lidstrom and Holmstrom. SJ just got older. So did Dallas, by adding Jagirl and Whitney.
I think it comes down to the Kings, Vancouver and Chicago in the West. I'm not buying St. Louis or Phoenix.

LA has a great chance to repeat. They got better every game of the playoffs and still have a chance to improve on last year. My only worry is Richards and Carter and how they spent their free time over the lock out. As well, hopefully Quick didn't lose his shit over that huge contract.

Quick won't change. Dude is legit.
Richards and Carter could become Richards and Carter.

Chicago still seems like a mess. Disjointed since they lost all those players after the Cup win...and Kane is a fucking cuntbag.
St Louis is well coached, but just doesn't seem to have the horses.
Phoenix played well, but they're overrated and the Kings are going to do everything they can to make them their bitch after all that cunty shit after the Yotes couldn't take it like a man.

Solid team in all departments, should make the conference finals at the least. It would not be surprising to see them in the SC finals.

I think they are the favourites to come out of the west if Jonathan Quick is anywhere near as good as he was last year. Goalies these days seem to be unpredictably good or unpredictably bad (see Crawford in Chicago or Byzgalov in Philly).
It's virtually the same team that won it last year and they gave the Canucks a bigger spanking than Boston ever did, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them win it all over again. It seems they have found that NJ niche that makes them one of the harder teams to play against. And, not to mention, they are a gigantic team. They are a bonafide Darryl Sutter team, that's for sure.
Once again, I'll be rooting for them if they steamroll my Canucks again this year due to the Meadow Lake content.

I like Westgarth, but he wasn't going to be playing for the Kings anyway, (with the currant coaching staff,) so why not pick up a player that DS will actually pencil into the lineup.
Look forward for Westie to prove himself with the Hurricanes and their fans. Hopefully a change of scenery lights a fire within Westie. Good move to send him to the East, so he has less of a chance to drop one of his former teammates.
As far as a repeat; I am a Kings fan so without a doubt I could go on a rant on how the Kings have a chance to contend for the Cup, but I will stick with the fact with half a season many teams can get hot and ride this shortened season in the finals, but IMHO the wasn't any team hotter in the second season than the Kings. A few guys brought up some good points about how the lengthly layoff benefits the Kings in regards to the Cup hangover, and also that it has given Quick time to heal. Good points. Quick's health is a huge question mark, yeah a goalies back is sort of important, and especially when you think of the way Quick relies and falls back on his athletic ability for that crazy second effort. IMO there is something going on, because the Kings retained Bernier when they had numerous opportunities to trade him for something of value. Time will tell, and with this short of a season a couple losing streaks your team is done.
Do I think the Kings can repeat? Of course, but without a doubt there are some question, and they'll be answered fairly quickly.

Kings lost Hickey and Clune to waivers. Clune to Nashville and Hickey to NYI. According to TSN

Stewart adds yet another big, relatively skilled forward.
I would be curious to know if the Kings are, in fact, the biggest team in the league...?

The Sharks are the biggest team in the league. Or the fattest. Whichever you prefer.
