With the crew the Isles have already, Im sure he's for Bridgeport. Tarnasky will be flying solo in Rochester with Finley gone.

I like Finley. Always had hopes for him. With Scott in buffalo, he won't have a chance to make the big squad, so it's nice to move him where he might have a fair shake.

Weird. Not exactly much room for him in Bridgeport either. I guess Gallant could need a partner to take on the bigger guys but still..

Buffalo still want him in the org., but had to pass him through waivers since to get called up this season.

I figured he would get claimed. So the NYI have to keep him up in the NHL all season. IF they try to send him down to the AHL, then he will come back to BUF if the Sabres want him back, which for Rochester they do. So he may be back with BUF soon enough. The Isles are low on d-men right now, and have Carkner.

If he really plays with NYI then they have to be the toughest team in the league(at least up top) with Carkner, Boulton, Finley & Martin. I don't know if they have other guys that like to fight, will chip in, so I can't speak to whether or not they have close to the depth of a team like Boston.

Boston is still tougher then the Islanders IMO.. I will take Thornton, Lucic, Chara, McQuaid over Carkner, Boulton, Finley, and Martin.

The B's are much more talented, but those Islanders are much better fighters IMO.

I don't want to give the overall matchups to either teams since it's so even. But Finley over Chara? I'd say that's the clearest win of the four matchups and it's a win for Chara. What has Finley done to give him the win over Chara? In one fight or in a 10-fight series?

Other than that I agree with Boulton/Thornton and McQuaid/Martin. Lucic and Carkner fought to a draw or possibly a win for Lucic. It's an even matchup but I'll give the edge to Carkner.

As I said, the overall matchups in terms of toughness when looking at those eight players is very even. Expand it to a team basis and Boston is still tougher though.

EDIT: Just realized I have Chara in my avatar... I am a bruins fan but by no means a Chara-homer or not even much of a fan.

Finley really isnt that good of a fighter all..Chara would have his way with him IMO..

Boulton is one of my favs, but Thornton has gotten a win over him in their last 4 fights and I think he also has a series lead over Carkner. I really don't get how one can say a player has an advantage when the other player clearly beat him. I don't think the winner of the Lucic-Carkner fight is relly debated.

Really IMO anyway you look at it Boston is tougher IMO.

Not a bad point MD. I can remeber 4 fights between Thornton and Boulton through their careers but I can't remember a win for Boulton. I can however remember two wins for Thornton. I'm at work and can't doublecheck atm. Still I don't have a problem with calling them equals with a Thornton-if-I-have-to-pic k-a-winner-attatchment applied

Boulton KO'd Thornton when Thornton was a Blackhawk. In the least a viscious TKO.

And...

Thornton is a much more established fighter right now then he was back in 2002. Look at the guys wins over the last 3-4 years. He has pretty much hung in or beaten everyone.

Like I said I love Boulton, but no shame in saying he is slowing down and Thornton is still going strong.

True. But Thornton was definitely not a newbie in 2002. He was racking up close to 400 PIM's a season in STJ in the Leafs system since like 95 or 96. Thornton benefits from being older and wiser but also from lack of competition. He's middle of the road if this were pre-lockout.

Sorry, 97 was his first year in the AHL. 02-03 was his 6th pro season.
