I know there's a bunch of Habs fans out there, so feel free to jump on board. Actually some good news from hockey's Mecca, Brandon Prust is the new sherrif in town and will add a bunch of scraps to the Habs lineup. Prust, Moen, White and Bouillion should provide a few good scraps anyway. I'd like to see Bergevin pick up a big nasty defenseman but he likely won't do much there till next year. Bergevin has made some smart moves to date, bulking up the lineup, cutting and buying out Gomez, hiring some great off ice personnel and having a great draft. Habs have some good young talent on the way up but won't challenge this year. With a young core of Price, Pacioretty, Subban and bluechip guys like Galchenyuk, Tinordi, Thrower, Dietz, Beaulieu, Ellis and Collberg, the Habs future looks good.

He should be a good bet to go with Neil if things get nasty.

I would add Tinordi on the blue line, if he's even a quarter as tough as his old man, it will do wonders for the Habs.
Galchenyuk should be fun to watch this year, I hope they keep him in the lineup.
Montreal brass has frustrated me to no end through the years having young prospects waste time in the minors (or worse, trading them away before they even got close to hitting their stride). Just put them on the ice and let them play, for fuck's sake.

Prust is a good pickup , should be some interesting
stuff with Habs, Sabres and Bruins . Well you would think anyway. Both teams kind of owe the Bruins some sort of payback.

I think BUF, TOR, and MTL each need one more tough guy type to effectively counter the Bruins.
OTT needs 2 more to help Neil. Giving up on Carkner, and letting Z go, with no one stepping in (Zach Smithg is ok at best in terms of fighting) really weakened them.
It's still a decent division for toughness I guess.

Huard I use to be so proud of our team...the glory days are gone now. I don't see a lot of toughness in the minors either.

As many of you are aware one of the top young defensemen and FC fan favorite PK Subban hasn't signed yet with the Habs. Although only 23, PK's fans are begging for the Habs new GM Bergevin to get him signed. Subban's agent Donnie Meehan is playing hardball, egged on by my buddy Cashman Rules who is visibly nervous of Subban destroying his beloved Bruins with his skills and fists. Cash is down in Vegas right now trying to raise some money to unite both Subban's in Beantown.

Habs lose while the fans chant "We want PK" in the home opener. Prust and Brown have the first fight of the NHL season... Habs blueline looked terrible and incredibly soft. Rookie Alex Galchenyuk had a couple of good shots but was hesitant and was eventually demoted from that line. Looks to be a very long short year for all the Habs fans out there.

Apart from the fight, the only other highlight of that first game against Toronto was Carey Price. It would have ended 6-1 if it weren't for his play in front of the net.

Habs are Now 1-1 and looked much better last night. Ryan White put an exclamation point on a nice home win by dropping the gloves with a Euro trash player that ran future captain Josh Gorges from behind into the boards. Great to see and was applauded by both Coach Therrien and Carey Price. Highly touted rookie Alex Galchenyuk scored his first NHL goal and played on a line with Brandon Prust who continues to impress. Prust is drawing comparisons to former Habs enforcer Chris Nilan, as he is playing great hockey and doing a good job of policing.

Habs are winning and have announced that rookies Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher will be staying with the big club for the rest of the year. Against the Devils, tougher players Ryan White and Brandon Prust both had goals. Coach Therrien seems to have found a really good balance while rebuilt cyborg Markov continues to score.
