Yawn. Nothing exciting.
Ovechkin suggested a move to the right side, which Oates likes. He's trying it out in training camp.
Eric Fehry signed. Yawn. Key tagline: "The 27-year-old Fehr scored two goals and one assist in 35 games for the Jets last [season]."
Tom Wilson is with the big club at the moment. Hooray.
Carolina adds Westgarth, Florida adds Parros, Caps respond and add the never impressive non-fighter, visor wearer who doesn't hit, Eric Fehr.
How do people "rock teh red!!!!!!!"?

At least they parted ways with Semen.
No chance Wilson makes the squad. Expect to see him secure a regular spot in the lineup the season after next.

And Wilson sent back to Plymouth today.
There goes the last reasonable chance for me to pay for a ticket. Thanks guys! I'll spend my money elsewhere for sure.

Correction: he got to play with those megastars.
Caps PR machine spews all sorts of filth, including that Jay Beagle is a good player, and that Joey Crabb was a worthwhile signing that addressed every hole the team has.
And the NOVA yuppie fans eat this shit up.

C'mon PB. It's bad enough here as it is, we don't need Luongo making things worse. You can have OV for free as long as you take 100% of his contract too.

Gillis called McPhee and apologized for the trade speculation his presence caused. Other that that, they haven't talked trades.

Some owners would fire a GM for the following:
-from Erik Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
Think maybe the Washington Capitals are having second thoughts about firing Bruce Boudreau after a 12-9-1 start last year? Since then, they’ve used Dale Hunter and now Adam Oates behind the bench and things are getting worse, not better. The Caps were 30th out of 30 teams entering play Thursday, which is also where they were when Boudreau took over from Glen Hanlon on an interim basis in November, 2007. Overall, Boudreau had a .672 winning percentage in Washington (201-88-40) and became the fastest coach in the NHL’s modern era to win 200 games. Oh and he has his current team, the Anaheim Ducks, off to a 7-1-1 start.

Well, Washington's goaltending is an absolute horrendous mess. I'm not sure if Luongo would be the answer, but the way Luongo's playing right now, trading Cory Schneider is looking more and more possible (especially with his dingbat agent and Mike Liut making the comments he just recently made).
Really, you can't lose with either if your goaltending sucks as is and Schneider's contract is a positive (and he'll be a great goalie).
As for those Ducks, I think they have looked great so far. It's amazing that they are doing this well with Souray and Beauchemin as their top 2 d-men. I expect them to slow down, however. But Boudreau is doing a terrific job down there. I feel very badly for Adam Oates. Not a good situation.

It's not that firing Boudreau wasn't the right answer - it was absolutely. But Ovechkin is a coach killing cancer as evidenced, and should have never been made the captain.
He has the C for two reasons:
To keep up with Crosby
To sell more jerseys. Notice he got the C the year AFTER the jerseys were changed.
Strip him of the C, trade Green, Schultz, Poti, Perreault, Beagle, stock up on picks and/or young, physical, TALENT, and bring in a good coach. Fire McPhee and beg Brian Burke to come in.

McPhee needs to go. He has done nothing to help them progress with bad decisions, and now it's going terribly in the other direction. AO is a joke. How he is not at least a point a game player is beyond me. But Washington's major problem is they fall in love with nothing players and give them second and third line roles. How long did that Eric Fehr shit last? Joel Ward? Are you serious with that contract? Trading for Hamrlik, or even icing Shultz is a joke. I know Chimera has spent time on their second line in the past. On top of that they have no identity as a team. They don't score, hit, or fight, and their defense sucks. Blow it up.
