The camera wasn't ready! The game popped on from a commercial to several guys fighting.
Pierre Cedric Labrie vs. Joe Finley
Good swinging, Finley takes a wild shot that lands then Labrie throws him to the ice
meanwhile..
BJ Crombeen vs. Matt Martin
A few rights that came up short, they pat each other and separate.
TB feed, maybe NYI feed was better.

Good way to start a game but neither fight was much. Thanks for the clips.

Can someone give us a rundown on this Labrie guy? I believe Finley is a heavywheight right? So I am assuming Labrie is too?

NY feed wasn't late and showed the puck drop. The camera focused mainly on the Crombeen/Martin fight.

He's listed as 6'3 234, doesn't look it though.
From what I've seen, he's a cross between Dingman and Vuckota, seems to go for the takedown more often than not.
He likes to fight guys smaller than him or non-fighters. Has yet to go with a true heavyweight.
He's trying to become more of a power forward type. Had 35 points and was a +33 in 56 games with Norfolk last year.

He has the size to be a heavy, but he's one of those tweeners. Fights a lot of second tier guys and isn't that fun to watch. Will probably fight more to stay in the NHL. Had a decent tilt with Staubitz last year.

The fight with Staubitz was ok, but he seemed to hold on the more Staubitz threw. Staubitz cut him open at the end.

Wow what the hell is the story here? Did something happen in the pre game warmups? Must have. And why is Joe Finley starting the game for the Isles on D? LOFL I can't believe he is even playing, they must be hurtin'. Good for him, but something is odd about this. It's clear Capuano wants fighters and has instructed Finley he is playing for only one reason as he was eager to fight which he hasn't been too much in Rochester this year. Will be interesting to see what the Isles do with him when that loser Visnovsky is back. He has to stay up all season or BUF can take him back.

Great to see the two scraps, but nothing to write home about. Looking forward to seeing Carkner drop the gloves. Still missing the team from a few years ago with Gills, Z, Haley, Martin, etc.

Wicked start to the game. Poor camera work covering the fights. I don't know why they don't split screen that shit when it goes down. Crombeen and Martin looked like it was pretty decent. Looked to me like Martin got the better of it. Finley and Labrie sucked as Finley was throwing air balls over the top and missing completely until he got himself off balance and Labrie just pushed him over. The fights weren't great but nothing sets the tone like an opening faceoff scrap, let alone two of em. Good stuff.

Announcers said it was a tone set by the coaches because of how the Islanders played their opening game, and how the Lightning played their last game in Nassau Coliseum.

Finley got something going in an early part of the scrap but quickly Labrie cameback until he went for the takedown.
Draw.
Crombeen got outlanded so hes narrow loser.
