At the end of the second, Hendricks and Slater drop the gloves. Jets scored two in the period so Matt tried to send a message, and did so by putting down Slater.

On first viewing, I call it a win for Hendricks with not much landing. The camera came as they were squared up, they come together and both throw some looping rights that miss. They both slip and after the refs let them get back up, Hendricks looks to land a solid right. Then they both slip again, and the refs break it up.

Fixed that for you, Tim. Next time don't worry about being the first to start the thread and do it according to forum standard.

I wasn't so worried to get it in first. I'm sure most guys aren't watching.

I'm still used to the European dating system.

I caught the second half of Hendricks/Thorburn. Bad camerawork.

Matt with a goal and two fights. Does he think he's Ryane Clowe?

Without seeing a replay, I'm saying edge Thorburn, appeared he landed a bit better. Does Center Ice not show fight replays?

Thorburn beat him pretty easily. Happened to see the fight live. He had his way with an over matched Hendricks throwing and landing with little answer from Matt. Payback for the Slater fight.

I love the heart Hendricks plays with. He just can't fight very good but the guy is all balls. He would be very good in a Gregory Campbell roll but he's basically it in terms of who will fight for Washington. Erskine I guess is kinda like Chara in that he'll fight a couple of times a year and is dangerous and good when he does go but he won't fight regularly enough. They're missing a Thornton or Lucic, or MacQuaid, or McDermid or pulse outside of Hendricks.

Hendricks won the Slater fight, lost the Thorburn one, scored a goal and was the only Capital who came to play by the looks of the score board. Good on him but he's going to get hurt one of these games because they're asking him to do a job he's not physically capable of doing very well.

Erskine hasn't played yet this season, Drunk. And he fights way more frequently than Chara. Chara has played more than twice as many games as Erskine and has 12 fewer regular season fights.

Yeah for their whole careers, in which Erskine was a legit heavyweight enforcer type defensman earlier in his career before his concussion problems and Chara was a first pairing Defensman who coaches wanted on the ice, not in the penalty box. Erskine built a healthy lead on Chara in terms of fights per game through the first half of his career but since his concussion problems he's gotten down to pretty close to where Chara is at in terms of how often he'll go. Chara had 1 more fight than him last season while Erskine was about double in terms of fights per game because he was out of the lineup so much. The year before he had 8 to Chara's 1, year before that 5 to Chara's 3, the year before that he only had 3 to Chara's 4. In 08 he had 5 to Chara's 6. Pretty well the same territory, quit being such a nit picking fucking nincompoop, the point is that both of them are big and can fight but don't do it very often and cannot be counted on or considered as enforcers at this point in their careers because they simply don't fight enough.

Was at the game. Left immediately following the second.

Gonna have a hard time enjoying this kind of game. Hopefully a few more games will pay off. Ovey is slow and boring. Nicky V is getting pretty again. And Mike Green gets spoked when he THINKS he is going to get touched. I hope he chokes on a skate. Love Hendricks........ but if he is our team toughness, god help us and god help him.

I know its only been two games but I am seriously already considering giving up my tix for Sundays matinee. Just a blah product right now.
Barney who?

I'm not nitpicking, Drunk. Just defending my guy. Erskine doesn't have chances to fight, or he would do so more. Chara belongs on the ice so he doesn't fight that much anymore.

They came together with going to grab but Slater missed with one clearly and it run him for trouble immediately as Hendricks taking totally a control ...
Clear win Hendricks after short but intensive bout.

At least you made it sound like he'd be the pitcher.
