May as well have given Stanton away. I feel sorry for the few true Marlins fans there are. They've gotten hosed numerous times since their inception.

Jeter shouldn't have been allowed to do any deal with the Yankees. Looks like total corruption.

He should be accused of such, if he's too stupid to realize how corrupt the give-away looks.

Marlins fans should run the guy out of town.

At least the Marlins used to get good prospects in their previous fire sales. This time it's a complete farce.

Career Yankee icon gives away team's HOFer to Yanks. Yeah, nothing to see here. Looks like the Yankees helped Jeter to be a Manchurian candidate for owner.

Wow, I didn't even know they gave away Ozuna and Gordon, for nothing too.

And Manfred lied about not knowing all about it, before approving Jeter's group.

Pitiful. Baseball is looking about like the Blacksocks right now.

Marlins may lose 135 games. But Jeter gets 7- figure bonuses for meeting financial goals. AKA giving away anybody good.

Tickets will be even easier to come by this season, as if that's even possible. Too bad their new stadium is such a hike for me now. I think I've been to three games since the stadium opened a few years ago. I used to go to every Phillies series and a few Braves, too, since I have friends who are Atlanta fans.

The mistake was giving Stanton the money in the first place. Contracts like that kill small and mid-market teams. They were going nowhere. On the surface it looks like a major disappointment and it is but to get rid of that contract is a good thing. Getting rid of the Ozuna boggles me the most. Jose Fernandez's death really turned things on its head for the Marlins.

It's funny you mention the Phils and Braves. The other "down on their luck" teams with the Marlins.

Phils have had tons of good prospects over the last 5 years, a lot of whom just fade away. That makes me think the development part of the system is bad.

Braves just don't seem to have credible prospects, just a bunch of journeyman / utility guys. Makes me think their drafting / eye for talent is bad. Freeman's the only good ball player they've created in quite a few years.

Mets are close to these 2. As are Pirates. Tons of great young talents, just not happening.

Dodgers are just freaking out with great young talent.

That's a good point with Fernandez.

Maybe his death just put them into a tailspin, which led them to give up on this phase.

Maybe that gives the incumbents some good cover. Not so much Jeter & crew. They look like they just took advantage and are really dirty.

Imagine that. Jeter ends up more nasty and dirty than AFraud.

Jeter playing the sweet little good guy while Rodriguez takes all the hate, then he pops up like a snake in the grass to raid the Marlins and bank the bonuses.

Great Yankees legacy, lol. NOT your Babe - Gehrig - DiMaggio - Mantle - Reggie legacy, that's for sure.

Besides, ARod is Mariner...... just like Griffey Jr. And Unit.

Too bad that team can never get their act together.

Reggie played 4 full seasons with the Yanks, out of his 21 years in the bigs.

Is he really amongst the pinstripe legends?

....I've always seen him as a west coast legend.

I just said that because he was in relative obscurity in Oakland and Anaheim, and gigantic when he played in NY. Dude was the man on Broadway, talk of the town and thus international.

But yeah, the years things is true.
