To replace the toughness they lost in Smith and Ott for sure. Good move. One more shot for McIllrath as he's been getting tossed around this year team to team. Hopefully he cements a 6th-7th D spot with the Wings who have a spot for him now.

He wasn't sent to the AHL by the Wings. The Panthers already had him there. Now we see if Detroit will call him up.
