The city of Charlottesville has some 'splainin' to do.

Why, on earth, did they allow the armed Nazi miscreants to walk down a street in close contact with a screaming mass of armed anarcho/communist miscreants?

I know right? How can you let a bunch gun toting, body armored pretend GI Joes get so close to a vicious mob of stick totting SJWs!!?!?!??!! The humanity! they never had chance!

It's easy, buddy.

Say it with me:

The violent Nazi miscreants are culpable and so are the violent anarcho-commie miscreants. The city is culpable for letting it happen.

Obama very slyly called on the DoJ to investigate the Ferguson riots. And even though "hands up, don't shoot" and many other points of contention were found to be lies the commission was still able to find cause in Ferguson's policing to justify a number of policy changes.

Compare the situations in Charlotteville and Boston, for that matter. AG Sessions should convene a group to investigate what happened in Virginia and at least force McAuliffe to face the music.

And the Mayor.

Oh shit, I thought you were joking. Your post only mentioned "armed " and "violent" in association with the antifa, while labeling the nazis with a charming term like "miscreants".... I thought you were mocking the various types of framing that are going back and forth for each side's posture and role in the festivities.

I forgot to add that the Governor is likely culpable as well.

Reuters should be added to the list. They refer to Antifa as "peace activists."

They all deserve to be shot in the nuts with a pepper ball.

That video was funny. I think Trump nailed it when he said jobs would solve all of this.

Does anyone have a credible argument that CNN isn't pushing an agenda?

Foolish,

I'd be most interested to hear your opinion on this.

Does Trump actually say anything painfully shocking?

I get that the jury is technically still out on whether there were any "non-Nazi" folks there simply protesting the statue removal, but I'm sure we can all use common sense and assume that at least one person there wasn't a racist fuckbag...right?

-PR

Here are my comments jotted down as I watched (most of) the news conference (it got pretty repetitive, but I got to 10mins watching start through):

His comment about waiting for the facts is fantastic and perfect except for the fact that it flies directly in the phase of his usually instantaneous finger-pointing twitter tirades every time he sees something he doesn’t like elsewhere (no links, the examples are legion). Generally if there is a chance an event was committed by brown folks he calls out Islamic terrorism inside of 5 minutes.

The follow up questions are bullshit, Trump rightly and correctly addressed them.

Million jobs…… is this a fact? The bragging of his accomplishments as POTUS needs a thousand asterisks’.

Strawman argument on McCain…..

Now he is asserting the lefties attacked the righties…. Do we KNOW who attacked who? I think he’s forgotten about the facts again. Now the permit is important.

Splitting the group carrying the swastikas into Nazis and good people is concerning to me. I don’t see how a “good person” can stand with Nazis over a statue. That seem dumb

More left attacked the Nazis….. blame on both sides….

Into infrastructure and its McCain’s fault already…..

Jobs will fix things…. I can get with that.

In the end, I don't really care about anything. I don't buy his statement about wanting the facts before commenting, thats not his MO. I'd like to know if the lefties ACTUALLY attacked the Nazis. Not suggesting its impossible, I truly don't know. And I'm sorry, but attacking Nazis is something I can get behind. Free speech doesn't mean free from consequence as we have discussed at length. This country gave up a ton to defeat Nazism once, fuck those who try to bring it back.

Now the non-nazi in a crowd of Nazis. I can see that, but if you are not a nazi, and you are appalled by their ideals - as you should be if you are a good person - you probably shouldn't be standing with Nazis for something as trivial as a statue. Though in contrast to a lot of the confederate monuments, this particular one (IMHO) does not have the questionable history of many of the others.

Plausible scenario -

Starts marching with tiki
"You will not erase us!"
Yeah! Let's chant, too!
"Jews will not erase us!"
Yeah, this isn't our crowd...let's go home.

I don't disagree with any of your assessment. I should have clarified my point...

The media has been portraying Trump's responses as "supporting the Nazis" or "being totally inappropriate". Would you agree with that, overall?

Not really, but I see the thread they're grabbing and running with.

His initial response was horrible and I think totally inappropriate - the white supremacist sites celebration of it is all the proof you need. The only right answer was to condemn the Nazis. Blaming everyone for the situation could come later, but the Nazis had the bodycount and the horrible message. I see that as a mistake rather than "proof" that he's a Nazi.

His 3 day later condemnation of the white power folks was great - from the basis of the words he said - but he looked like someone had a gun to his head when he said them. Again, not proof, but I kinda see where the media was coming from.

Since then I think he's been very consistent and correct. No doubts about him (personally) with respect to his actions on race. The media needs to let it go. I'mont saying he won, but this issue has been beaten to death, everyone has made up their mind one way or the other, now its just high pitched screeching.

I think the only way Trump truly sheds the racism stuff is to get rid of the many tarnished people he surrounds himself with. He has said to many questionable things in the past, and there are the questions of a familial relationship to the Klan, to allow him to tread near the line on this issue. Thats a assuming he truly cares about the image he is portraying on the issue.

This might be his birthier moment. Obama could have released his long form BC right at the beginning and pretty much killed the story... instead he let it become the identity for many of his detractors to the point where - for a lot of us - if someone is identified as a birthier, their words immediately become conspiracy theory. Trump could ignore the issue and - should nothing truly damning ever show up - perhaps make it into a joke.

See, you're pulling the "gun to his head" that the media did and I don't see that at all.

I agree that Trump's actions have emboldened a terrible fringe group full of delusional morons, but can you argue that Obama did the exact same shit (not specifically calling out) with regard to "radical Islam" and black power groups that would have felt the same way about his lack of criticism for some of the more violent BLM rallies?

It's the same arguments every 4 years. Yeah, black racists and brown racists support Democrats. White racists support Republicans. That doesn't mean that Republicans are inherently white racists or that Democrats are inherently black or brown racists.

Trump should send the DOJ after the Nazis and KKK and run up their asses with a microscope and lock away as many as they can - all very publicly.

I'm making a sincere effort to NOT follow the media chastising of trump for everything, but I watched the monday comments from him live (or at least on tape before reading the reviews) and I honestly thought his demeanor looked strained. No matter though, my opinion and yours do not have to be the same.

The rest of your post I agree with entirely. Particularly that last sentence. However, if he did that, the media would have to go back to focusing on taxes, money laundering and piss porn..... so maybe the tentative denouncement of the Klan is serving a purpose?

Granted, but I'm going to bet that no one who likes Trump perceived the "gun to his head" and almost everyone who hates him did.

That we can totally agree on. If it's not this, it's some other dumb bullshit. Funny how unimportant Russia is, now...

Did you honestly not think his demeanor was a little different than usual? Maybe you didn't see it as "gun to the head", but there was something out of the ordinary there, no?

As for Russia, I really do think there is some shady shit there, and I feel that it is well hidden and will take time to build the case. I think they investigation is doing that. I think that we will know when they are about to pull the trigger on something when we see DJT initiate a military conflict somewhere. I may very well be deep into conspiracy land, but I'm ok with that. Im also completely OK with Trump being exonerated and becoming the greatest POTUS ever. I watched the right attack BOs every move, whether right or wrong, for 8 years. It was counter productive then, and its counter productive now. I do not want to be the asshole cheerleading the country's failure.

OH! I also don't really know if the shady shit I'm envisioning rises to the level of impeachable.

Given what I know about the laws (little to nothing), it seems like the laws around collusion etc are antiquated and toothless. My perfect ending (assuming I'm right and there is fire to accompany the russian smoke) is the nation realizing that our POTUS made a deal with the devil and it was perfectly legal and we have to fix the laws so it doesn't happen again. Impeachment is a huge mess and I expect would derail the country for a time. We don't need that.
